2. Confirmation of Order of Business
The Chairperson advised that the Order of Business would be adjusted to progress the meeting efficiently. Agenda Items 9 and 10 were heard before Agenda Items 7 and 8.

7. Nelson Regional Sewerage Business Unit General Manager Update report. (Agenda item 9)
General Manager Regional Services, Nathan Clarke, spoke to the Pipeline Duplication Overview Plan (tabled 1982984479-4688) and noted the impact of the recent weather event had on the network and the resulting higher volume of discharge.

8. Nelson Regional Sewerage Business Unit Draft Business Plan 2023/24 Report. (Agenda Item 10)
General Manager Regional
Services, Nathan Clarke, introduced the report and noting
it was a series of projections based on existing information. Mr Clarke
answered questions on the current levels of inflation and CPI increases in
the in the construction industrindustry,y and
associated impacts, what the potential impacts of the National Adaptation Plan
were,capturing more information on climate impacts - particularly
around emissions and discharges, and on if
there are design and procurement options to reduce environmental
impacts.

9. 2021/22 Capital/Renewals Expenditure and Carryover Report (Agenda Item 7)
Operations Manager Regional Services, Brad Nixon, took the report as read and answered questions on Bells Island consenting delays, carryover capital and renewals spend.
Members noted significant improvements that had been made to the bio-solid facility, that carryovers were an inevitability in the current environment, and the reduction in the carry over value from the previous year.

10. Nelson Regional Sewerage Business Unit Annual Report 2021/2022 (Agenda Item 8)
General Manager Regional Service,
Nathan Clarke, introduced the report and provided an update
that a variation had now been lodged for non-compliance due to lack of Cultural
Health Indexing (CHI).
Mr Clarke answered
questions on the potential to build redundancy into the system, if
there was an option to increased
storage options, the resilience of existing assets and,
if an additional pump station may be required in the future to service new
growth and options to reduce impact of potential flood events.
Accountant, Andrew Bishop, spoke to Annual Financial Statements (tabled 1982984479-4687) and noted the impact of fluctuations in interest rates and that there was a minor deprecation difference between the statement and the managers’ report figures.
