On Tuesday 6 April 2021, commencing at 9.01a.m. - to Hear Submissions to the Draft Connecting Te Tauihu – Regional Land Transport Plan 2021 – 2031

There was no change to the order of business.

There were no updates to the Interests Register, and no interests with items on the agenda were declared.

4.       Draft Connecting Te Tauihu - Regional Land Transport Plan (RLTP) 2021 - 2031 - Hearing of Submissions

4.1       Late submissions

There was one late submission from the Tahunanui Business and Citizens Association Incorporated.

4.2       Kerry Bateman – 26661

Mr Bateman spoke to his submission regarding the need to stimulate the use of public transport via a clearway system with priority lanes and provision of park and ride facilities at Quarantine Road and in Stoke, with frequent shuttles to Nelson CBD. He answered questions regarding his submission.

4.3       Gillian Wratt – Nelson Tasman Cycle Trails Trust  - 26876

Ms Wratt provided a PowerPoint presentation (A2608661) and spoke to the Trust’s submission regarding the need for more emphasis on linking active transport outside urban areas, including the Tasman District, and answered questions regarding the submission.

4.4       Peter Olorenshaw – Nelsust – 26947

Mr Olorenshaw provided a PowerPoint presentation (A2610282) and spoke to the submission. He felt that the RLTP did not reflect the current goal of a mode shift and asked how this would happen without adequate investment in cycle paths. He spoke of coastal shipping and a lack of budget for Rocks Road and suggested the reframing of the Plan’s objectives to prosperity, not GDP. He answered questions regarding the submission.

4.5       Bevan Woodward – Bike Nelson Bays – 26950 – the submitter did not attend.

4.6       Gaire Thompson – 26952

Mr Thompson spoke to his submission regarding the reduction of speed limits from Nelson to Blenheim, noting that, in his view, Waka Kotahi had not listed to the submitters. He felt the Muritai Cycleway was not a good spend of money and that the Motueka Bridge, in the Tasman District, needed another lane.

4.7       Jane Murray – Nelson Marlborough District Health Board – 26820 – the submitter did not attend.

4.8       Penny Wardle – NZ Walking Access Commission – 27019 – the submitter did not attend.
