Present: Councillor B McGurk (Chairperson), Mr J Harland (NZTA Representative) and Councillor R O'Neill-Stevens

The Chairperson noted that Agenda Items 10 and 9 would follow after the Chairperson’s report (agenda item 6).
There were no updates to the Interests Register, and no interests with items on the agenda were declared.

6. Regional Transport Committee Chairperson's Report

Councillor McGurk presented his report. He noted that the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) had declined the Committee’s request to decouple the Neale Park to Clifton Terrace section of State Highway 6 (SH6) from the Nelson to Blenheim SH6 speed limit review. Following a request on timeline for delivery, Mr Harland undertook to follow this up.

7. Waka Kotahi: NZ Transport Agency Update (Agenda Item 10)

NZTA representative, Jim Harland, gave a PowerPoint presentation (agenda pages 38 - 44). Mr Harland noted he would follow up on a request made by the committee whether additional measures were being planned to increase road safety at the SH6/The Glen intersection other than signage, noting it was the committee’s preference to take further measures.
Mr Harland further answered questions about the Innovating Street Programme and The Accessible Streets consultation, noting the subsequent rule change was expected to occur by the end of 2020.

8. Nelson Future Access Update (Agenda Item 9)

NZTA Principal Transport Planner, Rhys Palmer, presented the report and answered questions about the Project Reference Group, reasons for the four-week consultation timeframe, and details of the planned community engagement.
