4.       Nelson Tasman Emergency Management Office Manager's Report

Document number R10414, agenda pages 7 - 385 refer.

Manager Emergency Management, Joe Kennedy, spoke to the report and answered questions regarding emergency management system reforms and declaration of emergency changes. He noted that Pigeon Valley event debriefing was ongoing, reaching the end of the recovery phase, and that a recent FENZ report had been solely focused on what started the event. The final draft of the multi-agency debrief was expected this month and work was being done to show costs throughout the district. In response to a question, Mr Kennedy said that there was nothing significant that he was aware of which would mean a raise in risk profile.

A request was made that the civil defence event review provide a good coverage of all groups and not inadvertently miss any groups out and Mr Kennedy confirmed that all organisations and partner agencies involved would be acknowledged.

Discussion took place on public education regarding Alpine Fault Magnitude 8 (AF8), fly in teams, CDEM budget and reserves, the Civil Defence Conference and the importance of early induction CDEM training for elected members, which would be repeated in February/March, with annual refresher training.
